My Favourite People

Rob Keeley’s first picture book.
A book for young children all about the importance of relationships.
Comes complete with suggested activities for bringing the book to life.

My favourite people are…

all in this book. And I’m going to tell you all about them. You can meet my Auntie Meg and Uncle Steve, my best friend Alice, my favourite footballer and the band that’s going to save the world. Then I’ll tell you about a brilliant idea I’ve had…

Following his success as a writer of novels and short stories for older children – including the ongoing Spirits series, listed for the Bath Children’s Novel and Independent Author Book Awards – Rob Keeley makes his picture book debut with My Favourite People, a fun illustrated journey through childhood and the friends and family who make it possible. It’s an amusing and insightful look at the world around its central character, an excellent read-aloud or read-alone. It encourages young people to look at relationships and recognise their importance. It will appeal to girls and boys of lower primary age – and to parents and teachers reading the book aloud.

This is available to parents, teachers, schools, homeschools and children's libraries (or anyone who wants some fun writing activities) in the UK for just £10! Email me via

I have been made Children's Writer in Residence for the Stay-at-Home! online literary festival! I was already booked to do a Q&A at this, and this will still take place, alongside activities for young readers. The festival runs from today, 27 March until 11 April, entirely on the Internet! So, here's what will be happening:

- I will be tweeting a writing prompt for children each day during the Festival! Great for families homeschooling or young people still at school. Follow me at and tweet back with the hashtag #StayAtHomeFest. If you write something based on these, tweet a picture of it using the hashtag and I'll retweet.

- I'll be writing a children's story especially for the Festival website. More on this soon!

- I'll be doing my Q&A on Twitter from 3-4pm next Friday, 3 April. Come and join me via the link above and again, use the hashtag #StayAtHomeFest.

My thanks to the Festival organisers - it's great to be representing children's literature at such a historic event. Check and for more news!

This a good book for young readers to identify their Favourite people in their lives. Full of diverse characters from all walks of life it will encourage kids to see the value that people bring to their own lives. Especially like the discussion prompts at the end of the book to encourage readers to relate to the story.

I love to read with my nieces and nephews and this would be a great book to read with them. In my Favourite people, the child talks about his Favourite People and why he likes them. It's not just his parents, but his aunt and uncle, librarian, postman, teacher, and more. There are discussion questions at the end to talk about each page. It takes a village to raise a child and this book helps children think about who is in their "village".

I thought that this was a really fun way for young children to identify who are their "favourite" people in their lives.

I liked the way that the book was set out and that the book had a wide range of people from different ethnic backgrounds and a wide range of diversity was shown and how the book shows that children can like people for a wide variety of reason too, none of which are wrong.

I liked the second at the end which encouraged questions and probing around the topic to make it a more than a traditional story book.

It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!
