Mime

A Supernatural Thriller

by

There’s a supernatural killer on the loose...

Elliot Cross didn’t believe in monsters. At least, not until his brother died at the hands of something unnatural.

Four years later and a string of impossible deaths leave the police baffled. Consumed by a desire to shine a journalistic light on the supernatural world, Elliot sees a chance to make a difference. Enlisting the help of his (only) employee, Samantha, he quickly identifies the culprit – a demonic mime artist whose invisible creations are fatally real.

Way out of his depth, Elliot’s only hope is renowned demon hunter Gabriel Cushing. But tracking down Gabriel is only the beginning… The search for a way to end the demon forever will take Elliot and Sam across the country, uncovering lost history, buried secrets, and a few new truths about themselves.

I don’t often turn to horror fiction but I have read a few in the past like The Ritual and the odd Stephen King. This was definitely more spooky than anything, which I think I enjoy more, it makes it easier to read when home alone!

I really enjoyed the gore touch in this book. It's intriguing, with an eerie and engaging atmosphere. The prose is smooth and I read this book in one day, which usually never happens to me with works of this kind. The characters have a particular and attractive backstory and the Mime is ruthless and brutal, It's a really good story!

It’s been ages since I read a good horror novel. The last one that blew my mind was The Ritual when I listened to the audiobook last year. I wanted to read this when I read the blurb. It sounded like a fantastic book, something I could really get stuck into and the kind of horror fiction I enjoy a lot; demons and supernatural creepiness. I cannot fault this book. It’s a fantastic read. The book reminds me a lot of The Dresden Files or Alone in the Dark. Elliot is a great character, driven to shine a light on the supernatural after his brother was killed by something not of this earth. He ruins his career was decent journalist to run an occult newspaper and is something of a joke to his former colleagues but he refuses to look away from the horrors he now knows exist. Sam is great as well; I loved the relationship between them both. This is a long book but it didn’t feel like it because I was so riveted by what I was reading. This might be the first in a series. I hope so. I can’t wait to read what the author comes up with next.

I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of creepy factors that kept me engaged throughout the entire story. The reader follows a small group of characters who are trying to defeat an ancient demon who has come into the world and has gone on a killing spree. For me, this was a unique horror story of how the demon was able to cause the chaos that it did. The only negative thing, for me, was that at times the story got a little repetitive. Overall, I would recommend this book.

A demonic mime who's creations are real ... What else can I say? Seriously though this book wasn't bad at all. It was well written and fun. If you're looking for a quick read with lots of gore, suspense, and subtext you could find a lot worse then Mime. Enjoy!

Hello, I'm Chrissey and I'm an author.

My first novel, Mime, releases this year. Working on this book has been an epic 10 year journey learning how to be a writer. Although Mime was my first project, it has routinely been on the back burner while I worked on other projects.

I'm a science geek, gamer, fan of sci-fi and fantasy, and wearer of many hats. Metaphorical hats, that is, not so much real hats. At the moment I mostly wear my writer hat, my designer and my crafter hat. I also used to wear my film maker hat when producing movies with my amazing colleagues over at The Great Escape.

I live in Clevedon in a creaky old Victorian terrace with my partner and my 17 year-old goldfish Ambition. You can follow my fish on Twitter if you like (@AquariumDays). One day I will own a cat... one day.
