Valerie Church

Valerie Church is a former lecturer in Philosophy of Education at the University of Northampton. After retirement she moved to a remote part of Wales, to look after a flock of sheep, make a garden and learn Welsh. She became interested in the history of Montgomeryshire and published articles in various journals. A book, 'Dolanog, Stories from a Small Place' was published in 2017. However, a novel had been simmering in the background to all the other activities, and was finally finished in 2023. By that time the author was ninety-six years old. Possibly the oldest debut novelist.
