Moira Walshe

Moira Walshe has been researching her maternal grandfather's family for 30 years. She became fascinated with them as a child after hearing stories about them from her mother. She has a lifelong passion for history and had always intended to write a book to provide a permanent record of her research. In 2006, she took a short online course with the Open University entitled 'Start Writing Family History'. In 2014, she completed a BA (Hons) degree in Humanities with Art History and Classical Studies following six years of part-time study, again, with the OU.

Author news

On Sunday 28 January 2024, I attended an author event and book signing at The Old School Bookshop, The Green, Old Buckenham, Norfolk. Some of the images below were taken on the day. It was very well supported and it was great to meet local people who were interested in my story and a little part of the history of their village. I was in conversation with Lucie who runs the bookshop, there was some time for a few questions and then book signings.

Part 3 of the book focuses on the lives of my grandfather who lived at Old Buckenham from the early 1920s to the early 1950s, and his brother Percy, who also lived in Old Buckenham for his last eight years.
