Jock Macdonald

Jock Macdonald was brought up in wartime India and post-war Scotland. He read Classics at Oxford, before teaching in the USA, and then at Winchester College. He co-directed a multi-school dig of a now-famous Late Roman Cemetery and was a central figure in opposing the M3 route through Winchester's water meadows. An SDP councillor and parliamentary candidate, he was also Second Master at Winchester College.
