Morten Scholer was a senior adviser at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland for fourteen years (1999-2013), where he assisted coffee producers, exporters and institutions in coffee-producing countries. His many assignments included development of national strategies for production and export, sustainability programmes and establishment of coffee laboratories. He is co-author of several publications, including the International Trade Centre's extensive The Coffee Exporter's Guide. Hands-on experience in wine was gained in his younger years working during holidays in vineyards and wineries in Macon and St-Emilion in France, a seasonal engagement he still practises in his home country of Denmark and in Switzerland where he lives with his wife. Morten has a Master of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Economics from universities in Denmark. He has worked thirty-five years with trade and investments in Europe, Africa, South East Asia, the Pacific Region and China in both private companies and public institutions. He has served on the board of directors in more than thirty companies in various industries from fertilizers and food products to beer and coffee.
