Ellie's Singing Tales: Book 1

A Surprise in Her Pocket

Join Ellie in her search for friends to sing with in two delightfully-illustrated picture books for readers aged 4 - 7 years, each complete with a worksheet and  a tune to play on your musical instrument!

Introducing Ellie’s Singing Tales, two enchanting picture books with hand-drawn illustrations that encourage a child’s love of music. Ideally suited for readers aged 4 - 7 years, the story follows a young girl who loves to sing and wants to share her joy with some friends. Both stories share an underlying moral of never giving up on your dreams, even when outside influences might try to tell you differently, and make an ideal teaching tool as well as a fun tale. Also included in each book is a worksheet and a tune to play on your own musical instrument.

In Book 1: A Surprise in her Pocket, Ellie has been told she cannot sing in the house. What’s a girl to do? Go in search of some friends, of course. This is the surprising story of how and where she found her first unusual friend who will share her love of singing.

A child will easily identify with the little girl in this appealing story, which draws us in with imaginative illustrations that reflect moods and actions close to many children's experience. It also encourages a positive outlook on life. The delightful fantasy of the friendship struck with the mouse who shares Ellie's love of singing introduces musical pitch and notation and encourages music-making. The simple text may also help a child learn to read.

Buy this, by all means! You may then find yourself making up little stories for your own children, using their lives as a starting-point.

As a music teacher I was delighted to find this book...first in a series so beautifully illustrated...which teaches a child the notes as different characters. The child can identify them using sound and the tale is full of basic morals.
