A child will easily identify with the little girl in this appealing story, which draws us in with imaginative illustrations that reflect moods and actions close to many children's experience. It also encourages a positive outlook on life. The delightful fantasy of the friendship struck with the mouse who shares Ellie's love of singing introduces musical pitch and notation and encourages music-making. The simple text may also help a child learn to read.
Buy this, by all means! You may then find yourself making up little stories for your own children, using their lives as a starting-point.
As a music teacher I was delighted to find this book...first in a series so beautifully illustrated...which teaches a child the notes as different characters. The child can identify them using sound and the tale is full of basic morals.
