The Dwelling

The Dwelling is a selection of poetry for the spiritual journey whatever faith the reader may or may not have. It is inspired by classic Anglican poetry and spirituality alongside Biblical texts, ecclesiastical architecture and the countryside. All this comes together under the umbrella idea of the dwelling or indwelling – both God dwelling with us and we with Him. There are six sections which relate in different ways to our right place, our dwelling, the path we might take to it, and the effect of the journeying. There is also a section concerned with Gospel stories and therefore reflective of the liturgical year. This collection describes the difficulties of finding our right dwelling and recognising it when (or if) we arrive, and also how human experience simultaneously confuses and illuminates the way. It will appeal to theists looking for reflective poetry on faith, as well as those with a more general interest in spirituality.

"The Dwelling" will be on sale at the Bloxham Festival of Faith and Literature at Bloxham school - the bookshop will be open on Friday 19th March and Saturday 20th March. Eleanor will be present at the Festival as a reader for a couple of the events - Malcolm Guite's session on Friday at 14:15, and the concert on Saturday at 18:30.

I loved this book. Each section brought new ideas and new challenges. I found some of the poems difficult to understand but that in itself was good. I had to think about what I was reading and sometimes think about how I perceived God. I think my favourite section is 'Person'. There are poems in this section that I can directly relate to and as such they speak to me in a very personal way.
