Gus MacDonald was born in May 1953 in Edinburgh and educated at Trinity Academy. He spent many years working in the Civil Service in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Over the years, he has taken part in many discussion groups with an interest in mainly religious and philosophical topics. He has, in the process, thought much about the undercurrents which have brought us to where we are today and has developed a keen eye for
discerning the spirit of the age in which we live. His poetry views this through the lens of the kind of deeply personal experiences and thoughts which are common to all of us. In turning his hand to poetry, he is following in the footsteps of one of his ancestors, John Walker (born 1671), a farmer at Athelstaneford in East Lothian, who, according to tradition, was a man of poetical and musical gifts. His interests include cycling, music, railways and reading. He lives in Edinburgh and is married to Janice.
