A Prayer in Gethsemane

by

Many plays, poems, novels and film scripts have been written about the life of Jesus, yet none of them has focused in any great depth on what is perhaps the most spiritually dramatic period of all:?his agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. This work seeks to address this omission by exploring, at length, the thoughts and emotions possibly experienced by Jesus immediately prior to his arrest. In this prayer, Jesus speaks of his: physical and mental anguish, love and concern for his mother, Mary, betrayal by Judas and the sacrifice made by the other disciples, gratitude to God the Father, work amongst the poor and needy, temptation to flee the cross, final preparation when arrest is imminent. Written in free verse, A Prayer in Gethsemane aims to achieve a natural yet heightened form of language that is worthy of its exalted subject. It strives to reach the heart and soul of Jesus and will appeal to fans of poetry, and religious readers; Christians in particular.

What a great book! Very small but powerful! ! I was able to read in a hour and what a journey it was. I felt like was was right there with Jesus! And I must say with this being lent it was the best read ever!!! Job well done.
