Staining the Soul

It is 1794. In remote Argyll, the laird Malcolm Craig Lowrie has sworn on all that he holds dear to protect his clan even though the price will be his own heart-breaking exile. He has also promised to help Adelaïde de Fontenoy – a young Frenchwoman trying to escape the debauched clutches of elderly lawyer, Sir William Robinson, and flee to France.

But now, as the bloody events of the Reign of Terror unfold in France and all Europe is menaced by Revolution, obsessed by the beautiful Adelaïde, Sir William Robinson arrives in Robespierre's Paris. Craig Lowrie and Adelaïde are almost ripped apart by the conflicting claims of love and duty and ruthless evil threatens to overwhelm all that is good and true. But is ‘Staining the Soul’ really a story of how love survives?

Delighted to have been invited to read excerpts from my debut novel at The Wirral Festival of Firsts in West Kirby Library on 9/7/2018 at 4.30pm.

The Wolf of Dalriada Series (2): Staining the Soul. Due out later in the year, this is about to go through the RNANWS for its final edit. Then I'll be looking for production and distribution.

In Elizabeth's debut novel, The Wolf of Dalriada,

It is 1793 . . .

As Europe watches the French Revolution's bloody progress, uneasy Scottish landowners struggle to secure their wealth and power. And, in Dalriada – the ancient Kingdom of Scotland – fractured truths, torn loyalties and atrocities are rife. Can anyone ride the maelstrom of these dangerous times?
Only, it seems, Malcolm Craig Lowrie – the legendary Wolf of Dalriada.
Now, in remote Argyll, people cry out to the young laird for protection against the evil of the Clearances. And there is the beautiful Frenchwoman – staked as a child on the turn of a card – now living in thrall to her debauched captor, Sir William Robinson, in his secret palace in the Highlands.
Can the Wolf of Dalriada safeguard his people? Can the Wolf help Adelaide de Fontenoy find a life worth living? And can the Wolf defeat enemies who, like the spirit of Argyll’s Corryvreckan Whirlpool, threaten to engulf them all?

She is also planning a third Wolf of Dalriada Story and a prequel exploring mysticism and legend in the Highlands. When not writing, she enjoys reading, travel, family and friends. She misses her labradors a lot.
