If this is the standard of what is to come in the remaining books of the trilogy - we are in for a treat!
The year is 1905. Peter Creswell, heir to the Britannic Steamship Company, loses his first command in a collision with a tanker loaded with kerosene. There is loss of life. Unable to cope with the aftermath, Peter seeks refuge in alcohol. Meanwhile, Rodger Brandon is planning to take control of the company from Peter’s uncle and is also pursuing the favour of Peter’s attractive fiancée, Sarah Hart
This is tightly written with good characterisation. There is a touch of mystery and a touch of romance, and some action at sea.
I look forward to reading the remainder of the trilogy.
If you enjoyed Jeffrey Archer's Clifton Chronicles, this is one for you.
