Feisty, Jess isn’t...
When Jess, an East End urchin finds himself transplanted to a rich uncle’s country house to be brought up as a girl, he has a choice: go along with it, or rebel. Unorthodox it might be, but Jess has always been happy for others to make decisions for him, and accepts the life he has been given. He grows to enjoy the security and comfort of his daily routine and becomes content with, and interested in, the clothes he is given to wear.
Change will, however, come to Jess whether he seeks it or not. The reign of Queen Victoria is over and his new governess has progressive ideas. His safe, pampered life may be coming to an end. Is Jess ready for independence, which would bring danger, excitement and terror? Might he have the resources to assert his true identity – what ever that may be?
