Carb-Free Living

A Diabetic’s Decade Long Success Story

by

Having been a type 1 diabetic for 32 years, the author successfully transformed her health through following a low-carb diet for over a decade. The pros and cons of following a low-carb diet for either diabetes management or weight control have been debated for many years, particularly since the publication of the famous book by Dr. Robert C. Atkins in 1999.

This is one of the first publications from a diabetic who has actually followed a low-carb diet for a long period of time while being closely tracked by medical professionals. She believes that this is among the most realistic and effective ways that people with diabetes can control their blood sugars or that people can prevent obesity, which is a major contributory factor for developing type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is rapidly becoming one of the world’s worst health epidemics, with cases climbing sharply around the world. One of the biggest challenges healthcare systems are facing is how to most effectively manage existing diabetics, and how to prevent new people from developing the disease. This ebook argues that following a low carb diet could be extremely beneficial when attempting to manage it.

This is my first published book. I hope you enjoy reading it and that it helps you (or a loved one) win the battle against diabetes.

Robyn Michelle Barr

I have been a type 1 diabetic for over 32 years. I was diagnosed at the age of 9 and initially treated in my hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. I arrived in the United Kingdom in 1997 to gain an MBA degree, and subsequently settled there permanently.

I currently work in the medical diagnostics industry where I market tests that are crucial for the diagnosis and management of various diseases, including diabetes. This background, along with my experiences of dealing with healthcare professionals to manage my diabetes, brought me significant insight into how clinicians make treatment decisions for their patients.
