Xander Macdonald was born in Bowden in Cheshire in 1966.
He grew up with his three brothers, John, Charles and James in Heaton Moor in Stockport.
His father was an artist, lecturer, and author who wrote several books on art and architecture, and having an interest in genealogy wrote ‘Back to Lochaber’. Xander’s mother met his father at art college where she studied sculpture.
He was educated at Stonyhurst College and went to the City of London Polytechnic to study Geology. He retrained as a software programmer early in his career and is now a freelance Programme/Project Manager.
Xander now rents a room in Henley-on-Thames where he lives with his Bernese Mountain Dog called ‘Dusty’.
