When the Dawn Came

When the Dawn Came is a detective story set on Tyneside. It deals with the accommodations of first and second generation immigrants to life in the UK and their links with the home country. Philosophical themes include the nature of Justice and self-knowledge, the effects of religion on the characters lives.

Jay is a young man who leaves home because he fears his father plans for him. He ends up in London where he meets Angelo who offers him work in his café. At the local library he meets Dawson Clark who lives in a squat. After an incident at a car wash Jay decides he wants to become a police officer. With the help of Dawson Clark he restarts his education.

A simple, useful guide. J an a writer and have more than the basic level of understanding but this book still had helpful and insightful tips that I have picked up and used. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an entry level text on the subject.
