Public Face Private Vice

A gripping crime novel and the second in the series of books featuring charismatic Chief Super Charlie Smith. Charlie Smith, of the Murder and Serious Crime Squad, finds that his team have landed a case where everyone seems to have something to hide. The death of a BBC presenter leads them to the heart of the broadcasting establishment in their search for the killer. But how is it that the culprit is always one step ahead of them..? Keith Wainman’s first book, Why Was She Killed? introduced us to Chief Superintendent Charlie Smith, a policeman with few friends in high places. Public Face Private Vice takes us back into his world in a bid to outsmart the killer.

Another good book from this relatively new author. The previous books characters take on another case. Once again you are drawn into the storyline, and almost feel part of the team. Exceptionly well written, twist and turns within this story, so good that you are not aware of the guilty party until the very end. Well done Keith Wainman you write books which I like to read, your eye to smallest detail is fantastic. Hope it's not to long before Charlie and team take on another case.

I didn't get to work, the dishes aren't done, and neither is the laundry. But I did finish this book. A superb suspense novel with many twists and turns. If you enjoy a first rate Mystery then this is the book for you.

4 out of 5 stars

I found the characters in this book very enjoyable, the story started as a murder mystery which twisted into finance and foreign agents. I found it a bit hard going when the emphasis left the conventional mystery format but I think a lot of modern readers would really enjoy it. The characters where very likable and there were many twist and turns which will keep the pages turning into the early hours.
