City Children Declare their Favourite Read
Over 200 schools in the city took part in this year's Awards with children aged five to 15 reading, reviewing and voting on which children's books they liked the most from a selection of those published last year.
The categories for the awards were: Picture Book, Shorter Novel, Longer Novel, the Stan Lee Graphic Novel/Manga Prize and the Community Libraries Favourite Book. Martin's novel was a commended book in the Shorter Novel category.
Jeremy Thompson of Matador says, 'Martin's book was up against some stiff competition from well-known children's authors, like Mark Haddon, so be picked as a commended read is just fantastic.'
Martin is pictured below with the other winners at the award ceremony, he can be seen second from right, standing at the back.
