Eugene is one of The Bookbag's Top Ten Self-Published Books for 2016

We're pleased to announce that Eugene by John G Smith has been selected as one of The Bookbag’s Top Ten Self-Published Books of 2016.

John’s debut novel is a riveting account of triumph, turmoil and ultimately tragedy. The book follows Eugene, who, after a harrowing tour of duty as an RAF conscript, returns to Britain from war-ravaged Burma. Eugene’s forbidden love of a Burmese girl is woven throughout a historical narrative that details post-war Britain and the lives of young men sent to the Far East.

Awarded 4 and a half stars by The Bookbag, the book is described as “a seamless meld of historical fiction and encyclopaedic knowledge that puts it above many debut novels; most definitely well worth a read.”
