Jessica Hepburn appears on Panorama

Jessica Hepburn, author of The Pursuit of Motherhood, appeared on Panorama last night to discuss the IVF treatments available and the limited evidence that they improve the chances of having a baby.

Recent evidence has suggested that many of the fertility add-ons available are ineffective when it comes to increasing the chance of conceiving, but many people have tried the costly procedures in their desperation to have a child. Jessica Hepburn spent over £70,000 on eleven cycles of IVF and had many different 'add-ons'. She never had a baby. She now campaigns for patients to receive better information about fertility issues. Speaking about her experience, Jessica said, "These are doctors. We believe what doctors tell us and this is a doctor that holds my happiness in his hands."

The Pursuit of Motherhood details Jessica's journey to have a child, describing her long and, at times, heartbreaking experience trying to have a child. "I've realised how hard it is to get a memoir about treatment right and to tell your own story in a way that other people will actually want to read, but Jessica Hepburn has managed it brilliantly in her book," explains Kate Brian, author of The Complete Guide to IVF and The Complete Guide to Female Fertility
