Hear all about it!
Calibre is a national charity organisation that brings the pleasure of reading to people who have sight problems or physical disabilities, through a free, nationwide postal service of recorded books. They offer a choice of over 8,000 titles, fiction and non-fiction, recorded unabridged by professional actors and broadcasters, and have 20,000 members. Most books are recorded in digital format and the service is described as 'life-enhancing' by their members.
After Monica submitted her novel, The Golden Thread, to them, she was delighted when they announced that it had been reviewed favourably and accepted by Calibre Audio Library who will be recording it for the enjoyment of their visually impaired members.
Monica is currently reading it at the Croydon Voluntary Association for the Blind, where it is being recorded and will be put on disks for their members.
