Alan Titchmarsh visits Matador...

Marketing Assistant Sarah Taylor and Production Assistant Jennifer Liptrot attended the Winchester Writers’ Conference 2012, which took place from 22nd-24th June 2012. The event took place at the University of Winchester. Matador’s stand was amongst a small number of exhibitors and greeted a large number of writers, agents and even celebrities – Alan Titchmarsh delivered the Plenary Speech on 23rd, much to the attendees’ delight, and he even dropped by our stand.

Sarah and Jennifer were particularly pleased to meet Iris Murdoch, agent of Matador author Barbara Mutch. Barbara published her historical novel, Karoo Plainsong, in 2011, and the high production values of the title and the strong sales it experienced attracted attention from traditional publishers. Barbara’s attendance at last year’s conference saw Headline Publishing buy the worldwide rights to the novel. They are republishing it in 2013 as The Housemaid’s Daughter.
