A Pint Puts a Smile on the Author's Face!

I was only five years old when I started writing stories. Fortunately for my readers I was "cured" for several years, mainly because I got hooked on mountaineering instead. I have climbed for 25 years and am grateful to have discovered a sport that takes me into the most remote and beautiful places on the planet as well as providing an excuse for drinking lots of real ale!

Now my two passions of mountaineering and writing have come together. I enjoy writing not only about my own experiences of the mountains, but also capturing the tall tales of comedy and tragedy which the sport inspires.

I live in the English Lake District and can see the fells from my desk when the great British weather permits. Writing, the great outdoors and Tai Chi keep me sane as my day job is in the surreal world of public sector consultancy.

I am a founder member of the national writers' network, Women Mountains Words and have co-authored a highly successful guidebook, "Scrambles and Easy Rock Climbs in the Lake District."
