Communication Ethics
Troubador’s new Communication Ethics series is a major contribution to a rapidly growing field of research and practice. Communication ethics is seen increasingly as a discipline of unique relevance to the dynamic information environment of today. It promotes communication practice and enhances trust by offering tools for the understanding of ethical issues. Moreover, it promotes strategies for identifying principles and enhancing human experience and relationships.
Communication Ethics draws its strength from its inter-disciplinary approach. Thus future volumes in the series can be expected to examine not only journalism, public relations and computer ethics but a wide range of related discourses; for instance:
• ethics in political organisations
• the ethics within virtual communities and electronic democracy
• the ethics of software development
• censorship and the internet
• the ethics in group decision-making
• caring and personal relationships
• professional development ethics
• interpersonal skills and ethical reasoning
• ethics and the philosophy of communication
• ethical education
• race and culture in the virtual world.
Editor of the series, Richard Keeble, is also joint editor of Ethical Space: The International Journal of Communication Ethics. The new series will draw some of its inspiration from the style of Ethical Space. Thus while its general direction will be founded in original, insightful and detailed research from internationally celebrated scholars, it will also include practical ‘journalistic’ approaches with lively texts exploring vital and controversial communication ethics issues for today.
