Escape from Nettle Farm
by Justin Davis

Escape from Nettle Farm, a children's novel, tells the story about Harvey, a Newfoundland puppy.
He's the smallest pup, with big ears and big feet, who's bullied by the rest of the litter.
His owner, a grumpy farmer, is mean and dishonest and breeds the pups as a profitable sideline to support his hobby of restoring farm machinery.

When all of the other puppies are homed, Harvey is told that he's to be sent to a working farm with a cruel owner, in exchange for an old tractor.
Terrified of what lies in store, he escapes...and is found by Millie Baker and her Dad at the allotments.

Falling in love with Harvey, Millie enters him into a puppy competition - little does she know that the grumpy farmer is going to be there too!. Is Harvey safe with the Bakers?
Will he ever escape the grumpy farmer?
Can he win the competition?

Escape from Nettle Farm is a beautiful full-colour children's picture book, ideal for young readers aged 5-10 - to support progression from assisted to independent reading.

A beautifully written book with a lovely story that grips you from the very start. I wanted to keep reading to see what happened to Harvey! Lovely illustrations to help you to picture Harvey and the Baker family. I would definitely recommend this book!

This is a really sweet book that's just as enjoyable for parents to read as it is for the kids! It's so easy to relate to with a lovely sense of humour and morals.
Very impressed overall - we hope to find out "what adventures are in store" next for Harvey, Millie and family!

I bought this for my 6 year old boy and read it to him. It is split into chapters and has lovely illustrations to talk about. It is a lovely story, one which we will read over and over again.

I bought this for my daughters 7th birthday and read the first chapter to her...I couldn't stop and ended up reading it all! Cleverly written with a great storyline. Each chapter keeps you hooked and eager to carry on! Beautiful illustrations well spread throughout the book. Loved how it all tied up towards the end, and makes you want to read more about Harvey's adventures.Would highly recommend this to parents to read with their children,or children aged 7-10 to read independently.

A wonderful story that puts me in mind of the kind of honest, heart warming fiction I used to read as a child. The story is largely about the relationship between a girl and her puppy, but it is filled with twists and turns that will keep your children guessing, booing the baddies and cheering the goodies! Gorgeous illustrations too. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended!

A lovely, very well written book. Both my 7 & 9 year old children enjoyed the story and wanted to continue reading to find out what was going to happen next. The illustration and the detailed descriptions all along the book really helped my children to bring the story to life.

A brilliant story with beautiful illustrations. My sons had great fun reading this with me and on their own - always trying to guess what would happen next! This good old fashioned yarn has held their interest enough to warrant a second and third reading in short order. With a shelf full of stories that are instantly forgettable it's nice to find a tale that we can come back to and enjoy again and again.
