The county town of East Sussex, Lewes is chiefly known for its staunch non-conformism and ferocious celebrations of bonfire night. It is a town with long traditions... one of which is music.
Traditional folk tunes are still played regularly in several public houses in the area by local musicians, simply because they enjoy it. Played from memory and often at great speed, many of the musicians know hundreds of such tunes from memory, some of which are over 200 years old.
