Crazy Over You
Love can drive you crazy… in more ways than one!
by Carol Thomas

Love can drive you crazy… in more ways than one!

When Abby met Simon, a drink in the uni bar lead to keeping in touch, late-night phone calls and intimate catch-ups. It was the start of something special, a love Abby believed would last a lifetime.

A wedding, two daughters and fifteen years later, Abby’s world is falling apart. Having discovered Simon has had an affair, her normally ordered mind is spiralling out of control. Crushed by the betrayal and shocked by her own reaction, she knows she needs to get herself together; she’s just not sure where to start.

With Simon on a mission to win her back and a close friend hiding a secret that could push her further over the edge, Abby finds strength and support where she least expects it. But as she attempts to gain control of her life and make decisions about her future, it may be more than the limits of Abby’s mind that are put to the test!

Crazy Over You is a refreshingly honest portrayal of a woman’s reaction to her husband’s infidelity while also being a touching story of friendship and love. It is a novel for all those who have experienced a break-up and know that living happily ever after is not quite as simple as meeting your man!

I absolutely loved Crazy Over You from the beginning right through to the end. A book filled with emotion, it had me crying and laughing along with much loved character Abby. A brilliantly written story of a woman's feelings, anguish and emotion as she gets herself through the turmoil of her husband's affair, some really lovely chapters of Abby finding herself again after going through her worst times. It's nice to read an honest story of the trials and tribulations in a marriage but also a woman's ability to come through the other side in some ways stronger than before. Absolutely loved it and would recommend to everyone!

A fantastic read from start to finish. I found that I could not put the book down. The main character, Abby, was extremely likeable and true to life. I felt as though I was with her on her journey through the trials and tribulations of a partner having an affair. I would definitely recommend that you read this book. I look forward to reading other books by Carol Thomas.

I have been recommending this book to all my friends. When I finished the book I felt something was missing as I was so engrossed in the book that I couldn't put the book down.....

I loved Abby, she made me cry and laugh out loud (on the train). It is written so well that you really feel what Abby is feeling. I'm not sure that I agree with Abby's choice at the end but as we look back I can see why she makes that decision. It makes you wonder how would you react in that situation.

I loved the story about Abby and Simon. It's all about trying to build that trust back up again. Beautifully written and you are given enough insight to agree with the final decision that Abby makes.

Crazy Over You—heart-warming and heart-wrenching!

Although aware that this book was probably written for women rather than men, I bought it because I saw a reference to it on a friend’s Facebook pages and I wondered how well she could write! I should add that I’ve tried writing fiction myself, so I’m well aware of the difficulties, especially for one’s first book.

I was impressed. It has the wealth of honesty and detail that comes from personal experience and, even if Carol has not gone through the troubles that beset Abby (her principal character), I suspect she has been close to someone who has! Written with the background of being a mother and a school teacher herself, her description of Abby’s day-to-day life will be recognised by almost every woman in the country. It is by turns amusing, full of insight, heart-warming and heart-wrenching. She has an excellent grasp of pace, motivation, description and dialogue that kept me glued to her story right through to the end.

The depth of Abby’s emotions and of her reaction to her husband’s infidelity came as something of a shock—many a husband will examine his memories and his conscience with trepidation. If the book has rather idealised—perhaps somewhat superficial—male characters (particularly as seen from Abby’s point of view), that’s not altogether surprising. It tends to reflect the cliché about men being from Mars and women from Venus—Jane Austin didn’t understand men, either.

I would certainly class this book as something much better than ‘chick-lit’—it’s a very promising novel as the start of what I hope will be more writing from this author. Despite being a mere male, I found it eye-opening, touching, romantic and gripping—a book I have no hesitation in recommending.

This is a great debut for Carol. I especially found the cover appealing and it will make you want to pick the book up off a shelf. As this book was very close to home for me, I was willing Abby not to take Simon back and to be with Brad (I liked him). At some points in the story I wanted to shake Abby and make her see what Simon had done; I wanted her to be more angry with him. Loved the children too. Loved the touch of Ann Summers in it. And including the counselling was as it should have been... Carol kept me guessing by throwing caution to the wind near the end. Great first book.

It was certainly a good read and it grabbed me from the beginning. I cared about Abby and was rooting for her to be able to put her life back together.

This novel is a good read that draws you into the story in the first chapter. Carol Thomas has drawn a very real, sympathetic main character, Abby, who you quickly begin to care about. Abby's life is in shambles as she is trying to cope with the reality that her husband has had an affair. Abby loved her husband, believed in his love for her and their daughters. Suddenly her perfect life and family are destroyed. The story follows Abby's journey as she rebuilds her reality and her self confidence and even her own identity. The novel is both heart wrenching and then laugh-out loud funny at time. The author writes about real people in real situations and writes with compassion and understanding. The story takes a surprising twist near the end which will keep you reading enthusiastically to the last page.

Crazy Over You is a story about a woman whose husband has betrayed her. Her once so happy world has shattered and she now has to find a way to deal with it, which isn't easy...

Crazy Over You has an interesting topic. Infidelity is something a lot of people have to deal with. I think it's good that Carol Thomas takes the time to describe it really well. Abby's in a lot of pain after what Simon has done to her and the description of it is realistic and well thought through. Because of Abby's inner world it's easier for the reader to come close to her personality and what's going on in her life, but it's also something that might form a bit of a gap between them, because the thoughts are so explicit.

For me this book would have been perfect if there would be a little more finesse. I missed this mostly in Abby's world of thoughts. I think Carol Thomas is a good writer who has a lot of potential and I'm curious to read more of her work in the future.

A thoroughly enjoyable read. Well plotted and written. Don't be put off if you think this is a story just for women but if you've ever had an affair read it and squirm! Deserves every success and I sincerely hope there is going to be a follow up.

Totally loved this book! I rarely give out 5 star ratings, but this book grabbed me from the beginning until the end. Liked how the author gave the main character a personality that anyone could relate to and would want as a friend. Don't want to give out any spoilers, but was really pulling for her to make a good decision at the end.

Abby just can't settle her mind now she knows her husband has cheated on her. Should she try and resolve their situation for the sake of her sanity and their two children, should she strike out on her own with the help of friends or a therapist, or should she turn to the PE expert at the school where she teaches?

Before you dismiss this as one more chick-lit chancer, there is a lot to consider. Yes it comes across as Marian Keyes minus the humour, yes it is light on dialogue and what we get can be quite declamatory (telling us what the author wants us to know, not what characters would say), but it also has many qualities. It all reads perfectly astutely, with the forensic look at Abby's character spot-on. The plotting does not shoe-horn any surprises into proceedings, but allows itself to develop naturally, and nowhere does the writing or characterisation revert to plain stereotype or cliché. I am sure Ms Thomas can return with something a little lighter of touch and tighter of plot, which would be a knockout – what she has given us at this debut attempt is fine enough already.

Took this book with me on a recent holiday and it was a real treat to chill out with this book. I love Carol's writing style and I was able to really associate with all the characters. How wonderful that someone's brave enough to write about betrayal in such a real, totally unique way! Particularly enjoyed the twists and turns at the end - can't wait for the next book.

I loved this from start to finish, couldn't put it down! All characters entirely credible and a story most people can relate to. A refreshing take on the romance genre!

by Amazon reader

I was suggested to read Crazy Over You as it is in the genre I love to read. As it is self published I was dubious it would be up to the level of authors I like to read, be it Miranda Dickinson or Chrissie Manby. And I am delighted to say the book was just as good as the main stream authors.
I will also admit that I did like that the lead character was my name sake! The character Abby goes through ups and downs throughout the story, and kept me turning the pages to keep up with what was going to happen next.
I have read many 'chick lit' books over the years and this is one I have enjoyed reading a lot. Carol took the context of marriage and showed Abby on a journey to dealing with the topic of infidelity. The pace was just right, the characters and dialogue believable and the plot very credible.
If you are looking for a well written story of a female lead trying to find herself after a marriage breakdown and something that will keep you turning each page to find it it's a case of happily ever after, then is is the book for you!
