Amazon 5* Review:

ByACon 23 May 2016
Format: Paperback
What a page turner! Although I'm not a sci-fi fan, the sci-fi part of the story (having a Psyche Twin) was fascinating...I'm not sure that I've come across a similar concept before. As a mum of 3 little ones, sleep is very important to me but this book robbed me of that for a couple of nights as I just kept wanting to read one more chapter...and another...and another! I'm looking forward to more from this exciting author.

Goodreads

I didn't expect to enjoy this book, my heart sank a little when I saw that it was set in the future. But the 'psyche twin' element was explained very well and so the science fiction/futuristic element was soon forgotten as I quickly got into the book.
I really enjoyed it! The detective aspect kept the pace up and made it a real page-turner. The story is engaging, so much so that on more than one occasion I found my heart racing.
I look forward to the next instalment!

Set in a future, it is a fast-paced whodunit. It’s aimed at the teen market, so the story weaves thru the coming-of-age of the heroine, Dez; her search for her Psyche-Twin (which leads her into ever-increasing danger); and her changing and deepening relationship with her ‘best mate’, Seth. I liked the way the various relationships are portrayed and how the dialogue helps to convey this. All the family pulls together (in the end!) to try to unmask the murderous ‘baddie’ and bring the person to justice. Does it all end happily? Well, not exactly… (possible sequel or prequel due!;-) But you’ll just have to read the book to find out why! It ticks all the un-put-downable boxes: Believable and likeable characters than can be related to, interpersonal conflicts and hidden pasts, relentless pacing, an antagonist with dreams beyond the occasional few murders, and with high stakes – Yes, even higher than the potential demise of the feisty heroine, Dez. It's a dangerous place, the future!

Powerful and terrifying twist on the highly popular dystopian genre. I truly enjoyed this.

I've read hundreds of books, and this one blew me away. A totally unique concept, psych-twins, and a possible murderer hiding inside your mind. The twists and turns keep you reading! I definitely didn't want to put it down! The ending though.... What a cliff hanger! I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel.

A futuristic, fast-paced whodunit!

I found Two of a Mind an intriguing read. In this compelling page-turner, Ms Stuart has successfully transposed teenage angst as we would recognise it onto a futuristic canvas.
The characters, young and old, are believable and well-rounded. I followed the main protagonists with interest and will definitely need to read the sequel! However, I also became interested in the characters who people the different time periods.
I enjoyed the slow reveal of the links and interconnectivity within and between families across the decades (and centuries). The movement between time periods was clearly marked, fairly easy to follow and didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story line.Very well-written!

A kind friend recently sent me a new book: Two of a Mind by S M Stuart. It arrived at the right time and caught me on the stepladder looking through the top shelves of my library searching for something to re-read.
First I glanced through the pages and studied the titles and wondered if I could handle the movement through time. On settling down to follow the life and adventures of Dez and Seth I stayed fixed and fascinated right to the final gallop.

Although set in the future, this is not a sci-fi book. Rather it is a fast paced mystery solving book that keeps you involved and engaged as the tension builds. The characters are likeable and empathy soon builds up with them. The family relationships reflect life today and it is somehow reassuring that these issues may be much the same in a 100 years time, but with the addition of continuing technological advances. The author's idea of psyche-twins is mind blowing literally! Both frightening and intriguing and it adds greatly to the fast paced story to find the baddie! An original and gripping book with the added bonus of being just the right length (excellent editing). Looking forward to the sequel. S.M. Stuart is an exciting new author.

Surprised by how much I loved this book. Before reading I thought a sci-fi theme would dominate, however it was more of a murder mystery/whodunit, with lots of twists and turns which made it a real page turner. I found the characters engaging and the storyline kept me guessing. I was upset when I finished it so quickly, and looking forward to reading the next in the series.

A thrilling futuristic story about being different and trying to figure out who you are. The twists and turns in the story kept me on edge and I didn't want to stop reading it. I would warmly recommend it to others who love thrilling detective stories. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
