Dreams to Die For
by Alan G Boyes

The murder of Yasmin Hassan’s parents leads her to plot revenge upon
Dean Assiter, US Secretary of State.
Detective Superintendent Bill Ritson of the UK Anti-Terrorist Unit struggles to obtain
the intelligence he so desperately needs to thwart Yasmin’s mission.
For Cindy Crossland, the comfort of a stranger on a wrecked tube train results in
a passionate affair, divorce from her husband, and a new life on the shores of Loch Quoich.
Alan, a city banker, slowly realises he has unwittingly channelled the funds to finance the plot,
and that his ex-wife has information which could send him to prison.

The unprecedented terrorist bombing of London on 7/7, and the clearance of insurgents in Baghdad after the fall of Saddam Hussein are the catalysts for the dangerous journeys of two women as they endeavour to fulfil their dreams. The tranquil beauty of the Scottish Highlands is the setting for the audacious kidnap of Dean Assiter as he holidays with Cindy and her new lover.

Meanwhile, Alan confides to Donaldson, his chauffeur, unaware of the ex-mercenary’s sordid and sadistic past and his secret intentions towards Cindy. As Alan waits nervously for news as to whether he will be safe, Ritson closes in on the terror plot, just as Donaldson succeeds in capturing Cindy and Yasmin is about to unleash her planned attack on Assiter...

Dreams to Die For is a truly exciting novel in which the various plots and characters are weaved and intertwined into an action-packed story line. The action moves across countries and culminates in a spell-binding climax in the Scottish Highlands, with tragic and unexpected consequences, making it a compelling read for anyone who enjoys crime novels, espionage and spy thrillers.

Your book should have a health warning!

I was so hooked by the first few chapters that while on holiday in Tobago that I was unable to put the book down. I could not stop reading “Dreams to Die For” to the exclusion of all other activities – much to the annoyance of my wife.
However, she also suffered the same fate!! John Rosier 31 March 2014

I have always enjoyed reading a thrilling story but all too often I have felt that some authors miss the opportunity to explore the deeper aspects of human nature, and rely only on descriptive passages of the personal appearance of their characters and whose exploits often seem incredulous. I have wanted to know more; about what motivates someone to pursue one course of action in preference to another and what that choice tells us about the values a person holds. Does a terrorist have a higher or lower moral compass than a successful business man or, come to that, an ambitious woman who wants more out of life? How would they both react to traumatic and unforeseen events? So my characters had to be credible, human and therefore vulnerable and I needed a location upon which the main plot centres to be an integral part of their story. For that I chose the Scottish Highlands whose loch dams are set in some of the most grand but lonely places of the British Isles where the contrast between beauty and ugliness can mirror how dreams can be found or lost. In exploring all these themes within a thrilling and explosive storyline I hope to have provided a first class enjoyable read that will leave the reader truly satisfied.

I finished reading this last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. A really good, powerful book with an excellent cast of characters and a great plot. A real page turner right up until the very end.

This is a first class book that it's difficult to put down, and at 500+ pages the author has successfully developed all the various plots which culminate in a thrilling climax to the underlying story running throughout the book. An excellent read, and I recommend it.

Apparently this is a debut novel, but I wouldn't have guessed it such is the assurance of the writing . Boyes engagingly maps out the plots
and characters and his brief description of the "incident" in Iraq is especially vivid .The pace of the narrative rarely flags and the author pulls together the various strands of the plot like a seasoned puppeteer
to effect the highly charged climax .This is a splendid read and I'm sure you'll enjoy it .

Just a note to tell you what a sensational job you did writing your book! I am loving each and every character, the way you describe their feelings, actions and motives. It is hard to believe that this is your first novel since it reads so smoothly and your command of the language engages the reader immediately.
Today I bought 4 books from one vendor and the last 3 from another....plus sending another 2 to the Kindle of friends.
Your name now joins my list of authors I love and which I suggest or send to other avid readers of thrillers. I can't wait to hear what they have to say about our new author, YOU! Write quickly, I await your NEXT novel....
With admiration,

by Pat
