This is an unusual book. For a start, it cannot quite make up its mind to be either a novel or a textbook. The second reason is that it does not have a single central character; it has several of them. Its purpose is to open your mind to new ideas, to help you think afresh about human potential, about how it may be revealed and brought to life.
The story asks you to reflect on the dangers of making people faceless. When we treat other humans as another statistic, just another pair of overalls on the shop floor or another body behind a desk, we miss valuable enrichment of our own lives and of theirs. In the context of an organisation, not getting to know our people and not dealing with them as individuals is a fatal flaw.
